License #1:  Horticultural Lawn & Turf

License #2:  Weed Right-of-Way (Vegetation Management)

T. D. A. Licensed Commercial

Restricted and General Use Chemical Applicator

T. D. A requires a lawn service to be licensed, bonded, and insured in order to acquire a chemical license and charter like what you see above.

Any lawn service that can't issue you this is unlawful in applying chemicals.  This includes spot spraying and/or backpack for "liquid weed-eating" purposes.

T. D. A. Regulatory Services enforces this law.  A true top professional service will have this chemical charter in their business.  They will have their company charter number on the side of their transporting vehicles or trailers.

If their company name is not listed with T. D. A., they are unlawful to apply chemicals in Tennessee.

This is what separates the amateur service from the professionals that want the best for their customers: The Big 2

#1 Insurance

  1. Business license (any business that operates should have a business license).

  2. Compensation (Covers any property damage on your property).

  3. Workman's Comp - protection for customer and lawn care service from employee injuries..

  4. Vehicle Liability (covers any company vehicle involved on site).

  5. Bonded (security bond to spray chemicals).

#2 License to spray chemicals

Tennessee state law requires a lawn care specialist to be licensed, bonded, insured to spray chemicals on property for hire.  This includes "Round-up" type spot spraying for "weed-eater" type trimming and spraying parking lots grass in cracks and crevices.  This law is enforced by regulatory agents in every county across Tennessee.

For additional information go to Tennessee Department of Agriculture's Web site.

The best way to achieve this information from your current services is ask for a copy of their insurance credentials.  BEWARE of services that take out policy insurance and drop coverage after they are awarded a job or contract.  This technique has been used in our industry quite often.  Always check on your lawn service periodically to make sure they are up to date on their required coverage.

If your current service can't issue you a charter number in their company name through the Tennessee Department of Agriculture they are not licensed to spray "any" chemicals on clients property.

We are very proud of our company and we are one of the leaders in our industry in providing the best service for our customers in Quality, Dependability, Liability protection and most of all FAIR PRICE.

Current license is on file and may be viewed at our office.
